Mindfulness in Education |
Whole School ApproachA whole school approach towards health and wellbeing begins with teaching mindfulness across all years of schooling, and involving parents, educators, administrators, support staff, and the community; all parts of a school and its community working together in the practice of mindfulness: "Mindfulness can contribute to the development of connected and reflective school and classroom climates where staff and students experience and cultivate values such as kindness, compassion, respect, open-mindedness, tolerance, and mutual caring and responsibility." ~Implementing Mindfulness in Schools: An Evidence-Based Guide by The Mindfulness Initiative (https://www.themindfulnessinitiative.org/implementing-mindfulness-in-schools-an-evidence-based-guide) A whole-school as a model approach recognizes working holistically to promote practices that will benefit individuals to increase student engagement for well-being and success.
